On August 19, 2015, the 2nd
Cross-strait Urban Agricultural Development Forum was successfully concluded in the No. 3 meeting room of YulongHotspring of Shuangyang District, Changchun. Agricultural experts from both sides of the strait, representatives of townships and enterprises in some counties (cities) and districts of Jilin Province, and representatives of dragonhead enterprises and participating enterprises of Changchun, totaling about 400, gathered to communicateabout macro policies for cross-strait urban agriculture and the beautiful countryside construction, trends, characteristics, development experience and future orientations.
As one of the important events of the Agricultural Expo, the forum took “urban agricultural development and beautiful countryside construction” as its themes. It was co-sponsored by the Jilin Province Agricultural Committee, the Changchun People’s Government and the Taiwan China Culture University, and co-organized by the Changchun Shuangyang District People’s Government, the Changchun Institute of Urban Planning & Design and the Changchun Science & Technology Institute.
The forum was officially kicked off at 9:30. Deputy Mayor Chen Si made a speech, in which he remarked that the Taiwan people are bold to take the initiative and active to explore, and they have blazed a trail for modern agricultural development with the Taiwan features from quality agriculture to leisure agriculture and further to agriculture for all the people, which provides China Mainland with beneficial references for developing modern agriculture. Changchun is a big city in terms of the agricultural industry, but is modern agriculture still remains at the stage of development, so there is much space for cooperation with Taiwan and strong complementarity. He hopes that this cross-strait urban agricultural development forum will make a good start for in-depth exchange and cooperation of modern agricultural development and beautiful countryside construction and further promote economic and trade exchange, cultural exchange and emotional communicationbetween both sides of the strait, so that we can jointly explore new routes and new domains to expand modern agriculture on both sides and jointly embrace a brilliant tomorrow for modern agricultural development on both sides of the strait.

At the forum, experts and scholars like Director Wei Yudong of the Beautiful Countryside Construction Office of the Ministry of Agriculture, Doctor, Professor and Dean LuoLingling of the School of Agriculture of the Taiwan China Culture University, Governor Tang Tiesheng of the Changchun Shuangyang District People’s Government, Director Fang Fei of the Changchun Institute of Urban Planning & Design, Expert Zhang Xiaoming of the Changchun Science & Technology Institute, General Manager Yang Bai of the Changchun Guoxin Modern Agriculture Company, Director Huang Qinjie of the Taiwan Qingshui Stream Leisure Farm, etc. made wonderful presentations on the China Mainland’s exploration and contemplation of the beautiful countryside, the Taiwan Fuli Township planning, agricultural and rural resources applications, creation of urban agricultural pilot zones, modern agricultural development models, the beautiful countryside construction, farm-village economic development, etc., followed by active interactions among them.
