Photo Booth has always been one of those signature apps for the Mac that you bring out every once in a while to show your friends or family and then promptly forget about until you do a fresh install of OS X and want to take a new profile picture. Apple has decided that you need this convenience on your iPad as well and will be introducing the app with the iPad 2.

Photo Booth will take advantage of the iPad 2’s new front camera, although you can use it with the rear one as well, by allowing you to shoot mug shots of yourself and apply one of nine different effects including the classics like Mirror, X-Ray and Twirl.

Photo Booth will only be available for the iPad 2 at least initially, perhaps due to the requirement of more processing power that the iPad 2 has in spades with the Dual-Core A5 chip.
