The folks over at TiPB, along with the other Smartphone Experts sites, have gotten together to produce a nice cross reference guide to the specifications of the competing tablets from most of the major players in the arena including the Xoom, Galaxy Tab 10, Touchpad and of course the spanking new iPad 2. Keep reading to check out the guide to see how the iPad 2 stacks up against the competition.
Looking at the chart above there are a couple of items I found worth noting.
- The iPad 2 is the only tablet available now on Verizon and AT&T.
- Only the HP Touchpad has more raw horsepower with it’s 1.2 Snapdragon Dual Core, although they have not been benchmarked for performance of course.
- The iPad 2 matches the Blackberry Playbook at 64gb for largest size of internal storage available.
- The iPad 2’s cameras are lower res than any other potential offerings.
- The introduction of the HDMI out adapter means that the iPad 2 matches the others with 1080p video out.
- Both the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10 (1.32) and Blackberry (0.9lbs) are lighter than the iPad 2 (1.3lbs) but both are made out of plastic not aluminum.
- It’s hard to say what most will start at price wise but the iPad 2 has the lowest starting point at $499. The comparable model to the Motorola Xoom is $729 vs. Xoom’s $799 no contract pricing.
- Only the iPad 2 and the Xoom are available now.
Are any of the other tablet offerings looking tastier than the iPad 2 to you right now?
