The Limera1n Jailbreak from iPhone hacker Geohot is now available, here’s how to Jailbreak your iPad with Limera1n.

NOTE: I’ve used iPhone screenshots here as placeholders but the procedure is the same on iPad. I’ll replace them when I can.

WARNING: LimeRa1n is still in Beta release, this means that it’s still relatively unstable and has it’s share of bugs. The iPhone Dev Team is set to release the GreenPois0n Jailbreak tool soon, perhaps even incorporating the basic exploit that was used to make LimeRa1n. I can guarantee you that GreenPois0n will be more stable. Also, you should know that if you’re interested in Unlocking your iPhone you should not upgrade to iOS 4.1 and Jailbreak it now. Wait for the release of PwnageTool so that you can retain your lower baseband. That being said, if you want an iPhone iOS 4.1 Jailbreak now, here’s how to do that with Limera1n.

The Limera1n Jailbreak supports the following devices:

• iPhone 3G iOS 4.1
• iPhone 3GS iOS 4.1
• iPhone 4 iOS 4.1
• iPod touch 3G iOS 4.1
• iPod touch 4G iOS 4.1
• iPad iOS 4.1 or 3.2.2

First, you’ll need to download LimeRa1n from our iPhone Downloads page.

Next, plug your iPhone into your computer with your cable, launch LimeRa1n from where you downloaded it, then click “Make it Ra1n”.

When LimeRa1n launches, follow the onscreen instructions to hold the Power and Home buttons down together.

Then release the Power button.

LimeRa1n will put your iPhone into DFU (diagnostic) mode and perform the Jailbreak.

You will see the following status messages when the computer portion of the Jailbreak is complete.

You should now see the LimeRa1n icon on the Springboard of your phone. If you don’t see the LimeRa1n icon on your iPhone, just reboot it. Once you see it, launch LimeRa1n and select Cydia to install.

Once Cydia is installed, you can begin installing all of your favorite Jailbreak apps again. Limera1n does not need to stay on your phone so you can delete it.
