Ahh Flash on the iPad, you elusive beast. I have stalked you through the night and into the morrow and yet Jobs will not let you near my precious. Now you can get Flash running on your iPad regardless of what His Jobs would like.

This is thanks to iPhone hacker Comex, who you may know as the person behind the Spirit Jailbreak for iPhone and iPad. Full Flash video support is on it’s way but for now, flash animation and games seem to work.

This tutorial will show you how to install the Frash plugin, enabling Flash on a Jailbroken iPad.

1. Jailbreak your iPad. If you haven’t, check this tutorial out, it’s really easy.

2. Download Frash.deb. I can’t link to the file or I’m told Unicorns will die, but if you Google search it, I’m sure you can find it.

3.Browse your iPad’s files using SSH or this neat trick. Navigate to /var/root/Media.

4. In the Media folder, create a folder called “Cydia”. Open the Cydia folder you just created and create another folder called “AutoInstall”.

5. Upload Frash.deb to the AutoInstall folder.

6. Reboot your iPad 3 times.

Now visit any site with Flash animation. You should see the red F logo where Flash is played. Tap the logo and the animation will begin playing.

Frash is still in early alpha, so it’s pretty buggy and doesn’t work as well as it could or probably will, but it’s still neat to see Flash running on an iPad and it’s definitely a great sign of things to come. Comex says that he still has a lot of work to do to get it ready for primetime, but when it is, you’ll most likely see an install package on the Cydia app store if this tutorial is over your head.
